About the event
For our April Open Mic Night, we're so excited to be returning to SOWAL House of Rosemary Beach. Join us Thursday, April 11th and listen along to brave local storytellers as they share their written and spoken tales. As always, doors will open at 5 and stories will begin at 6 PM sharp.Â
For those interested in taking the mic, we ask that you please email emeraldcoaststorytellers@gmail.com to be considered for a reading spot and include your name, genre, a little bit about yourself, and what you plan to present. We've had a lot of requests and would like to give everyone a chance to share their stories! If there's time for extra people, we'll open the floor before our Featured Storytellers: Erica Spivey and Noelle Manasco.Â
. . .
Erica passionately advocates for individuals pursuing their greatest wishes, despite their greatest regret- emphasizing second chances and fair treatment. Over the past decade, she has dedicated significant time to serving in jails and prisons, focusing on those with criminal histories. Erica leds programming in Florida prisons and co-founded a re-entry mentor program for adults nearing release without support. Currently the Executive Director for the Florida Foundation for Correctional Excellence where she collaborates with public and private partners to enhance investment in re-entry programs. As a TEDx speaker and Global Leadership Summit Prison Program Host, Erica sheds light on the positive aspects of the justice-involved population.
Noelle Manasco brings decades of experience to her work, passionately serving families and children in various marginalized communities with a focus on individual needs and available resources. With a genuine warmth and a strong belief in the power of engagement, Noelle collaborates closely with partners to develop comprehensive strategies for the benefit of all involved. Currently, she volunteers her time with incarcerated individuals at the local prison and contributes her expertise to the Florida Foundation for Correctional Excellence, where she helps to shape innovative programs for career readiness and community re-entry. Noelle and her husband call northwest Florida home, where they joyfully welcome their three grown sons for relaxing beach visits whenever they can.
